I love my Pampered Chef apple corer/slicer. My oldest son started using it recently and loves it too unless we get really big Honeycrisp apples. The bigger apples tend to get stuck in the apple corer/slicer. My boys started eating sliced apples when they started losing their teeth, and now that’s pretty much the only way they eat them. We love Honeycrisp, but the organic ones tend to be huge. We recently found Pink Lady apples that taste almost as sweet as Honeycrisps, but with a slight tartness too. I love how many different kinds of apples are available in the Fall, don’t you? What’s your favorite kind of apple?

Anyway, today as I was slicing the apples for them for lunch, I was using the Apple Corer/Slicer, and I remembered a great tip. You know how the cores of apples are rarely straight because not all apples are the perfect appley shape? (Appley is a word, right?) Well, I found out that if you turn the apple upside down, it’s easier to see what angle the core is, and it’s much easier to get the whole core out. Awesome, right? It’s worked well for our family, because if my kids accidentally got a hull or another part of the core in one of their apple slices they may never eat them again! Okay that’s a slight exaggeration, but no one really wants an apple hull in their apple slices.

I have a weird secret. My kids don’t like caramel! When they first told me this, I was like what???? That’s so incomprehensible to me because caramel was my favorite candy growing up. Their Father loves caramel candy too. I guess I should be happy about it, because it’s less sugar for them to consume. I thought maybe the caramel dip I had them try last year was too gooey for them, so this year I purchased these apple wraps, that you can cover the apple with and stick in the oven for a few minutes to melt. We are going to try these after school today. Who invented these? I don’t know, but I think they are genius. I loved making caramel apples when I was younger, but I did despise unwrapping 50 little pieces of plastic off of the caramels.
