One of the things we love most in Fall is fresh Apple Butter. Apples are plentiful in the Fall, so they are usually cheaper. It’s such a great time to teach your kids how to make Apple Butter.

My boys both have food allergies, so sometimes coming up with new things for breakfast is a struggle. My oldest has a severe egg allergy, and my youngest has to eat Gluten-Free. They do like toast and usually eat honey butter on it, but in the Fall they love to put fresh Apple Butter on top! We add cinnamon and cloves, and it ends up tasting pretty similar to Cracker Barrel’s apple butter. My oldest loves it on biscuits and my youngest eats it on his favorite GF Pumpkin Waffles.

Watch the video below to see how we make Apple Butter in the Instant Pot.

Instant Pot Apple Butter

Cuisine: American
Keyword: Apple Butter

Ingredients

  • 10 Medium-sized apples. I used Honeycrisp
  • 1 cup Water
  • 1 cup Apple Cider
  • 1 tbsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp cloves
  • 1/2 cup Brown Sugar, or sweetener of choice I add this at the end if I think it needs it after tasting it. Sometimes just the apples and cider make it sweet enough.

Instructions

  • Wash, dry, and Core your apples.
  • Place apple slices into the Instant Pot
  • Poor water and apple cider into Instant Pot
  • Sprinkle apples with cinnamon and cloves
  • Secure lid and turn vent to Sealing
  • Press Manual and set for 30 minutes
  • When Instant Pot beeps, do a quick release
  • I open the lid and cool for 10-15 minutes
  • Blend in a blender for about 1 minute
  • Pour into glass jars or freezer containers. Once cool store in the refrigerator or freezer.

If you don’t already have an Instant Pot, or if you want a bigger one, you should check out Amazon. Sometimes they have them on sale or as the Deal of the Day like they did with this 8qt LUX80!

  • I just wanted to make sure I understood your last comment. Does the Apple Butter go in the freezer or the refrigerator? It sounds also too easy, but I’ve had some so I know that it is yummy!

    • We let the apple butter cool until warm, and then put it in both the refrigerator and freezer. I put 1 or 2 in the fridge because I know they will eat that fast, and then I will put the rest in the freezer.
