You would have thought it was Christmas morning at my house today. I got a notification that Amazon had delivered the new Diary of a Wimpy Kid book to my house, and I had my 11-year-old son go check to see if it was there. He is a big Diary of a Wimpy Kid fan. He has read all of the books and watched all of the movies. He’s been waiting for this new book for months! He was so excited when he opened the package and found out it was the new book Diary of a Wimpy Kid Wrecking Ball, which is available now on Amazon. It is the 14th book in the Diary of a Wimpy Kid Series. Unfortunately, he has to wait until after school to read it. Maybe that will motivate him to get his work done faster. A Homeschooling Mom can only hope!
My son started reading these chapter books a few years ago, and can easily read them in one day. His love of books first started with the Hardy Boys when he was in 2nd grade. A few years ago he found these Diary of a Wimpy Kid books, and he was addicted to them immediately. He laughs hysterically as he reads them. I have to admit the last Diary of a Wimpy Kid movie, The Long Haul, was pretty funny. I even laughed quite a bit when we took the kids to see it. Anyway, this book is the 14th in the series, and it’s called Diary of a Wimpy Kid Wrecking Ball. It’s about the Heffley’s home getting remodeled after an unexpected inheritance. The stories all revolve around Greg Heffley, his family, and all of the adventures and misfortunes that go with being a school-aged boy. This book sounds pretty interesting, and I”m sure it would also make a good movie.
Reading this series of books and then watching the movies that they made based on a couple of the books was the first time my son learned that the movies are not always the same as the books. It’s one of those rights of passage a person has to learn, however, it’s always a little sad, isn’t it? Anyway, I’m really excited for him to read Diary of a Wimpy Kid Wrecking Ball. Maybe I’ll have him do a review of it when he’s done. He loves to write, and I love that he loves to read. The Diary of a Wimpy Kid Series makes it fun to read, and I believe they have instilled a lifelong love of reading in my son. If you have a middle school-aged boy to buy a present for on your Christmas or Holiday gift list this year, may I suggest one of the Diary of a Wimpy Kid books! They are easily available on Amazon. The older ones are usually on sale, and the new one is currently only $8.99. Click on the link below to view the Diary of a Wimpy Kid book series. Another way you can read this book is with Kindle Unlimited. You can download it instantly, and they have certain books for free each month. My kids love doing accessing books through Amazon Kindle Unlimited. As soon as they are done with one book, they can get another. There’s no late fees like at the library. No more searching the house for books at the last minute, or paying fines for not being able to find it. This Mom loves Kindle Unlimited!
