Today, I want to talk to you about Lavender essential oil. This was one of the first oils I tried, and I fell in love with it immediately. We use approximately a bottle of this oil a month because we use it all the time at our house. My friend from church, who also happens to be a nurse, introduced me to Young Living Essential oils one Winter. I loved the smell of lavender and had actually used lavender before in baths, bath bombs, bath salts, etc. While the products I used smelled nice, I didn’t notice much of a benefit beyond a normal bath.
Once I started using YL’s Lavender I noticed a big difference. I mixed a few drops with coconut oil and had my husband rub the lotion on my back one night. It helped to relax me, and I had the best sleep I ever had! I was truly in love. Now I put 10 drops into a roller bottle, that I purchased on Amazon, and fill it up the rest of the way with liquid coconut oil, and use it as a bedtime roller on my youngest son. He has a very active mind and has a hard time relaxing at night. Lavender really helps him. We also add a few drops to a cupful of Epsom salts that we then add to a weekly bath for our kids or when one of us is feeling a little under the weather.
It’s one of the most useful essential oils and therefore is a great essential oil to start with if you are new to oils. In fact, lavender is known as “the jack-knife of essential oils “. It can be purchased in Young Living’s Premium Starter Kit, which includes 11 other popular essential oils and a diffuser. This is a great set to have with Winter approaching and can definitely help your family stay healthy this year.
